Outdoor event planned for Remembrance Day in Bonnyville
In the days leading up to November 11, Poppies can be seen in every corner of this great country and in the Lakeland. This year, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 183 in Bonnyville is inviting you to an outdoor event which has been planned to honour our veterans.
The outdoor event will start on November 11, at 10:45 a.m., at the Legion Hall located on 5112-52 Ave. in Bonnyville.
Jamie Beaupre is the President of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 183 in Bonnyville.
“The hall will be open to the public at 12:30 p.m. for a live music social,” Beaupre said.
Beaupre would like you to take a moment on November 11 and to reflect on the freedoms and peace in your life, and to remember the men and women who served and sacrificed for all we have today.
“Promoting Remembrance is part of The Royal Canadian Legion’s mission and has been one of our principal objectives since our inception,” Beaupre said. “The Legion inspires Canadians to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, and to honour those who served and continue to serve today.”
Beaupre says COVID-19 guidelines will be followed for the event.
“If you are uncomfortable in a group setting, we respectfully ask that you do not attend,” Beaupre added. “We’re gonna do it again on the street like we did last year. Which is starting to look like it may be a new tradition because everybody likes the old nostalgic way of doing it.”
The Legion is asking if you do attend to please bring your own chair and parking is available at Lions Park which is located west of the Legion.
“Free coffee and hot chocolate will be served,” Beaupre said.
