Bear killed by motorist on Highway 28

One motorist is ok and walked away after hitting a bear on Friday night while driving on Highway 28.

Dan Heney is the Regional Deputy Chief for the Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority (BRFA).

“Station 5 Bonnyville responded at 11:50 p.m., on October 22, for an MVC on Hwy 28 south of Twp 610,” Deputy Chief Heney told Lakeland Connect.  “A vehicle travelling North towards Bonnyville struck a bear that was crossing the highway.”

Deputy Chief Heney says, the driver was not transported to the hospital and the vehicle was towed.

“Unfortunately, the bear did not survive the incident,” Deputy Chief Heney concluded.
