Upward trend in enrollment at Lakeland Catholic Schools

Schools are experiencing an upward trend in enrollment across the Lakeland Catholic School Division.

As of September 30, 2021, there are 2,635 students enrolled in Lakeland Catholic schools. This is an increase of 168 students when compared to the official enrollment for the 2020-21 school year.

In Bonnyville, École Notre Dame Elementary has 349 students, an increase of 19 from last year’s 330. Dr. Bernard Brosseau Middle School has seen a slight decrease by four students from 312 to 308, and École Notre Dame High School has seen some growth compared to 2020’s 397.

This year, the high school has 414 students enrolled. Looking at the Cold Lake area, Holy Cross Elementary School has three additional students for a total of 386, while St. Dominic Elementary School is also seeing a rise in enrollment with 275. This is a jump of 24 from last year’s 251. There are 565 students enrolled at Assumption Jr/Sr High School. This school has seen the largest increase this year with a total of 94 new students.

“We are very pleased with our current enrollment and look forward to providing quality education for all LCSD students,” LCSD Board Chair Diane Bauer said.

Holy Family Catholic School in Waskatenau has 85 enrolled this year, and Lac La Biche’s Light of Christ Catholic School has 242.

Across the division, there are 11 Program Unit Funding (PUF) students this year.

“We are very close to our projections and are delighted to see an increase in enrollments this year,” said Superintendent Pamela Guilbault. “We are pleased with the confidence our parents have shown in Lakeland Catholic.”
