Suspicious bale fire burns for six hours
On Monday morning, tones dropped to Marwayne Fire & Rescue and Elk Point Fire Department for a report of a bale stack on fire just north of the Tulliby Lake turn off straddling the border of the County of Vermilion River and the County of St. Paul.
Fire crews from both departments attended and worked the fire for the next six hours, ensuring the fire did not spread with the wind gust or cause any addition visibility issues on the highway.
“The fire cause was suspicious and a Fire Investigator from the CVR FS was assigned,” County Fire Chief Kirk Hughes told Lakeland Connect. “Investigators attended and are waiting on a few expert opinions. Thanks to Chief Sawicki of Lloydminster Fire Department for his assistance on this file.”
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
