“Firefighters arrived and actioned the fire quickly preventing the flames from gaining access to the interior of the residence,” Hughes told Lakeland Connect. “Crews checked exposures before handing the property back over to the homeowner.”
Also, early this morning, Dewberry Fire & Rescue was notified of a well-involved structure fire north of the Village.
“First arriving crews found a completely lost structure smoldering to the foundation,” Hughes said. “Firefighters cooled what remained and checked for any spread in the surrounding woods.”
Due to the unusual nature of the fire, Chief MacDonald from Dewberry called for a Fire Investigator. Chief Hughes was dispatched and the RCMP were notified and attended.
The fire cause remains under investigation.
