BRFA respond to several fires during the week, one fire was identified as suspicious

The Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority (BRFA) is committed to keeping our communities safe and has responded to several calls over the week.

Dan Heney is the Regional Deputy Chief for the BRFA.

“On Monday, September 20, Station 7 Fort Kent and Station 8 Ardmore responded at 6:30 p.m. to a fire at 50st and Highway 28 in Ardmore,” Deputy Chief Heney told Lakeland Connect. “No significant losses.”

Also on Monday, Station 5 Bonnyville responded to a Medical Assist at 11:30 p.m., Deputy Chief Heney added.
On Tuesday, September 21, Station 5 Bonnyville responded to a structure fire in the 4500 block of 41A St at 12:45 p.m.

“Items placed on a stove were ignited by a burner that was accidentally left on,” Deputy Chief Heney said. “There was minimal damage, a neighbour extinguished the fire with baking soda prior to our arrival. The home was ventilated to remove the smoke and the home was turned back to the owner.”

Also on Tuesday, Station 5 Bonnyville responded to a grass fire on the Southside of Muriel Lake.

“The fire was identified as suspicious and RCMP were alerted,” Deputy Chief Heney said.

Lakeland Connect has contacted the RCMP for an update if any on the cause of the fire.

On Wednesday, September 22, Station 4 Iron river and Station 6 La Corey responded at 6:00 p.m. to a Medical Assist Deputy Chief Heney says.

On Thursday, September 23, Station 5 Bonnyville responded at 6:00 p.m. to a two-vehicle MVA at 50ave and 58 St.

“Neither driver was transported to the hospital, one vehicle was towed,” Deputy Chief Heney said.
