New students at Vera M. Welsh Elementary in Lac La Biche get to meet the bus tomorrow

NLPS students at Vera M. Welsh Elementary in Lac La Biche who are new to taking the bus are invited to Meet the Bus at their school tomorrow.

Transportation staff will be visiting NLPS between August 31 at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. to introduce new riders to taking the school bus. Students will have the opportunity to meet a bus driver, get a tour of the school bus, learn about school bus rules, and take a short bus ride.

The goal of the program is to increase students’ confidence and reduce anxiety about taking the bus to and from school. It is primarily for Kindergarten students, but any students who have not taken the bus before are welcome to attend.

Registration is not required to participate in any of the sessions. Simply stop at Vera M. Welsh Elementary at one of the times indicated and Meet the Bus!

Please note that all parents/guardians and students in grades 4-12 who are participating will need to wear a mask, as the provincial mask mandate is still in place for school buses.
