Signage will be placed at the front door stating the closure.

A patient who still presents to the ED may be assessed (CTAS) by the RN on site however, not registered. If the patient is CTAS 1, 2, or 3, call 911 to have EMS respond to the health center to treat and transport the patient.

If a patient is CTAS 4 or 5, the patient should be directed to travel to the St. Therese – St. Paul Healthcare Centre (35 km). If possible, please make the facility aware if a patient is being directed to them.

EMS is aware of the ED closure and will bypass Elk Point to other emergency departments when transporting a patient.

The admitted acute patients will continue to receive care from the community physician; no transfers are required.

This temporary closure is the result of lack of physician coverage.
