Bonnyville RCMP arrest and charge two males for multiple break-ins in Bonnyville area

Between July 11, and July 12, the Bonnyville RCMP received a number of reports of break-ins and thefts that had occurred at a number of locations in the Bonnyville area.

Bonnyville RCMP’s investigation indicates that in the early morning hours of July 11,  two males, captured on video surveillance, broke into a business located just North of Bonnyville on Highway 660. A quantity of fuel pumps were stolen.

Police say It is believed that the male suspects then went to the Bonnyville Airport where they allegedly stole eight equipment batteries, damaging the equipment by cutting wires in the process. The suspects then proceeded to syphon 250 litres of diesel fuel.  Prior to leaving the airport the male suspects then cut the nozzle of the jet fuel truck hose, and stole in excess of 1500 litres of jet fuel.

On July 12, the Bonnyville RCMP received a report of a break-in to a local Bonnyville business.  As a result of further investigation, Bonnyville RCMP identified and arrested a male who was in possession of bear spray, a quantity of methamphetamine and break-in tools.

Bonnyville RCMP’s investigation into these incidents resulted in charges against two individuals.

Chris Olszowka, 31, from Bonnyville has been charged with:

• Flight from police
• Mischief (x2)
• Theft (x4)
• Fail to comply with orders (x7)
• Possess break-in tools
• Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
• Resist arrest
• Break and enter (x2)
• Possession of stolen property
• Possession of a controlled substance

Patrick Schmold, 32, from Bonnyville has been charged with:

• Flight from Police
• Break and enter
• Mischief over $5,000
• Mischief under $5,000
• Possession of property obtained by crime
• Theft (x6)
• Drive while prohibited
• Endanger safety of airport.

Following judicial hearings, both Olszowka and Schmold were remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear in Bonnyville Provincial Court on July 20, 2021.
