Five people arrested after police pursuit through Bonnyville after armed robbery in Cold Lake

On Thursday, July 8, a Ford F250 4×4 pickup stolen from St. Paul motored through main street at a high rate of speed in Bonnyville with the RCMP in hot pursuit.

Sgt. Sarah Parke is the Detachment Commander from the Bonnyville RCMP.

“A Bonnyville member was pursuing a vehicle with five occupants involved in an Armed Robbery in Cold Lake,” Sgt. Parke told Lakeland Connect. “While the vehicle was not stopped during this police pursuit, it was located again later in the evening and another Bonnyville member engaged in a police pursuit with it.”

Sgt. Parke says with the assistance of the Cold Lake Detachment and Police Dog Services the vehicle was stopped and all five occupants were taken into custody.

One male youth and one female youth were arrested, there names cannot be release due to the youth justice act. Colton Moyah, 19, from Fishing Lake,  Conway Moyah, 20, from Fishing Lake and Shaelin John, 22, of Fishing Lake were also taken into custody.

The youth have been charged with:

  • Possession of Property over $5000
  • Dangerous Operation of a motor vehicle
  • Failure to stop while being pursued
  • Common Nuisance
  • One youth also was charged with Robbery
  • Failure to Comply x3
  • Resisting a police officer

Conway Moyah, Colton Moyah and Shaelin John were jointly charged with:

  • Possession of stolen property over $5000
  • Dangerous Operation of a moto vehicle
  • Failure to stop while being pursued
  • Common Nuisance

Colton and Shaelin also were charged with resisting a police officer. Conway was charged with Robbery and Failure to Comply x 3.

It is unclear what business in Cold Lake was held up.

Shaelin attended court on July 12. Colton and Conway will appear in court on July 14.
