ÉNDHS Student Recipient of Citizenship Award from the Youth Helping Youth Alberta
Congratulations to École Notre Dame’s High School’s Grade 10 student, Morgan Gillis. Gillis is the recipient of a Citizenship Award from the Youth Helping Youth Alberta organization in the Top 20 Under 20 category
The program seeks to highlight youth under 20 years of age who have shown qualities worthy of recognition. Youth are recognized in 5 different categories, which include resiliency, compassion, leadership, vision, and citizenship. The awards are inclusive and easily accessible with an aim to recognize youth not only for their achievements, but for their qualities and nature as an individual.
ÉNDHS Principal Vince Spila commented that Gillis goes above and beyond to build up the community spirit of the school and says that she recently took the lead in an outdoor beautification project of the school grounds. Spila says, “Gillis wants to ensure that the school is a welcoming place for students, staff, parents and the community.”
Gillis was chosen from a pool of students across the province, whose names were submitted by their schools. The awards will be presented virtually on Sunday June 19, 2021. Youth Helping Youth is a student-led, non-profit organization that promotes opportunities for youth across Canada.
Congratulations Morgan on behalf of ÉNDHS and LCSD for your hard work and dedication, and for your contributions to your school.
This is the Youth Helping Alberta’s first year recognizing Alberta’s outstanding youth.
