Cold Lake RCMP arrests following flight from police leads to drug seizure
The Mounties in Cold Lake have busted a large amount of drugs destined for the streets in the Lakeland.
According to police, On June 20, in the early morning hours, the Cold Lake RCMP seized a significant amount of cocaine and methamphetamine following a vehicle stop where the driver initially failed to stop for police. The approximate combined value of the illicit drugs are estimated as $140,000.00.
Derek Drake, 32, from Cold Lake and Katie Fiddler, 18, from Frog Lake, have been charged with:
- Trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine)
- Trafficking in a controlled substance (cocaine)
- Dangerous operation of motor vehicle
- Flight from police
- Resisting arrest
Following judicial hearings, Derek Drake was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Cold Lake Provincial Court on June 23, 2021; and Katie Fiddler was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Cold Lake Provincial court on July 14, 2021.
As this matter is now before the courts, no further details will be released.
