Elk Point RCMP investigate fatal collision

There has been a serious accident which has claimed two lives.

On June 15, at approximately 11:30 p.m., the Elk Point RCMP received a 911 call of a disturbance and possible explosion on Highway 897 on Frog Lake First Nations.

Elk Point RCMP attended and located a serious head on motor vehicle collision between two vehicles that resulted in one of the vehicles igniting on fire.

Emergency services and fire services also attended the scene to extinguish the fire.

The 29-year-old female driver and lone occupant from St. Albert, Alta., and the 39-year-old male driver and lone occupant of the other vehicle from Moosomin First Nation, Sask., were both pronounced deceased at the scene. The names of the deceased will not be released.

The Elk Point RCMP, along with an RCMP Collision Reconstructionist, are investigating the cause of this fatality.

No further updates are anticipated.
