LCSD announces new principal positions for the upcoming year

Lakeland Catholic School Division (LCSD) is pleased to announce a number of new roles for the upcoming school year.

Rachel Reid has be appointed as principal of École Notre Dame Elementary School beginning in August 2021.

Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and raised in Bonnyville, Reid has lived in Calgary and Lethbridge, and for one year she lived in Wellington, New Zealand. Rachel is married to Chris and they have a son Sawyer who is 18 months old. She graduated from the University of Lethbridge with a Bachelor of Education degree in 2002, and she holds a Master of Education degree from Gonzaga University (2011).

Rachel’s teaching career began in Calgary Alberta where she worked for the Calgary Board of Education for twelve years. In 2014, Rachel began teaching at Lakeland Catholic School Division at École Notre Dame High School. She was also the CST (Classroom Support Teacher) at this school. She has a strong instructional leadership background.

LCSD has appointed Sigrid Sollbach as principal of Assumption Junior-Senior High School beginning in August 2021.

Sigrid is a global citizen. She was born in Edmonton and has lived in Alberta and a variety of locations around the globe where she also worked as a teacher and an administrator. She has two children, Victoria and Cynthia; both of whom are attending MacEwan University in Edmonton.

Sigrid has a strong instructional leadership background. She graduated from the University of Alberta, Campus St. Jean with a Bachelor of Arts in 1992, a Bachelor of Education in 2000, and a Master of Education in 2008. Her university education had a focus on French Immersion pedagogy.

Sigrid’s experience includes being a Senior Manager of International Languages, and a Curriculum Implementation Design Specialist at Alberta Education. She has been a principal of schools in Amman (Jordan), Guadalajara (Mexico), and Doha (Qatar). She has also been a Vice Principal in Grand Prairie, Alberta at École Montrose.

In 2019-2020 Sigrid began working with the Lakeland Catholic School Division as Vice Principal of Light of Christ Catholic School in Lac La Biche. In 2020-2021 she moved to Holy Cross Elementary School in Cold Lake as Vice Principal.

When asked about taking on this new role, Sigrid said, “I believe in creating a team within a school where each staff member contributes to a shared vision of excellence in all areas of education and the school community. I strive to help all students achieve their highest potential through education, the development of literacy and numeracy skills as well as citizenship and faith development. I believe it is through establishing a safe and caring learning community where all students are valued for who they are that teachers and administrators create high expectations for academic and social growth and excellence.”

Outside of school, Sigrid enjoys spending time with family and friends, swimming, yoga, reading, taking courses, and cooking. She is passionate about travel and learning about different cultures and languages.

Ephesians 4:32 is an example of scripture that resonates with Sigrid, “and be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ has forgiven you.”

Sigrid will commence the position of principal at Assumption in the 2021-2022 school year.

Michelle Kaminski has been appointed principal of Holy Cross Elementary School beginning in August 2021.

Michelle was raised in Cold Lake and is married and has two daughters. She graduated from the University of Alberta with
a Bachelor of Education degree. Most recently, Michelle was the principal of St. Dominic Elementary School. She has been in this
position for nine years. Prior to this, she was a Division Instructional Learning Coach in Assessment for four years.

Michelle’s teaching career began in 1990 where she worked for five years for Fort McMurray Catholic Schools. She began teaching at Lakeland Catholic School Division in 1996.

When asked about taking on this new role, Michelle said, “I am honored to have the opportunity to serve Lakeland Catholic School Division and Holy Cross School in this new role. I look forward to joining the amazing staff at Holy Cross, and to meeting all of the new families at this school.”

Outside of school, Michelle enjoys camping, reading, walking, and spending time with friends and family.

A Bible verse that resonates with Michelle is from Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Michelle will commence the position of principal at Holy Cross Elementary School in the2021-2022 school year. Congratulations Michelle!  May God bless you and reward you with success in this new position.

Kim Kaiser has also been named as principal of St. Dominic Elementary School beginning in August 2021.

Kim has two daughters, Madison (grade 11) and McKenzie (grade 8). Kim is currently in her twenty-fourth year of her profession and is a graduate of Dalhousie University where she received a combined Bachelor of Physical Education and Bachelor of Education degree. She
holds a Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Lethbridge.

Kim has a strong instructional leadership background. Most recently Kim was the principal of École Notre Dame Elementary School. She has
been in this position for 7 years. She and her family are excited to become members of the Cold Lake community.

When asked about taking on this new role, Kim said, “I am looking forward to serving Lakeland Catholic School Division and St. Dominic Elementary School as principal. I am dedicated to Catholic Education, and to serving the students and parents of this school,
through regular and open communication.”

A Bible verse that resonates with Kim is Matthew 5:16, “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.”

Kim will commence the position of principal at St. Dominic Elementary School in the 2021-2022 school year.
