Bonnyville RCMP Briefs

The Bonnyville RCMP was busy last week with a total of 176 occurrences.

On April 30, the Mounties were requested to attend for a structure fire in Kehewin that was suspected to be arson. Through neighbourhood inquiries and witness statements, the Mounties were able to locate and arrest a 26-year-old female from Kehewin who has been charged with arson. She was released for court in Bonnyville on June 1, 2021.

Police are asking the public to be on the lookout for a stolen white Chevrolet Silverado. The company vehicle was stolen from the NOVA RPM yard. After it was reported stolen the Mounties arrived and cleared the yard and the building. They did not locate a suspect.

The RCMP received a report of a break and enter at a residence in Fort Kent. Members attended the residence and ensured that it was locked up and secured. Missing items include jewellery and other personal items. Neighbourhood inquiries have been completed, the Mounties say any information that the public may have that would assist in the investigation of this break and enter can be reported directly to the Bonnyville detachment or Crime Stoppers.

On May 3, someone reported an intoxicated male walking through traffic, yelling in the street. Members attended and the male fled on foot. The RCMP apprehended the male and as he was being placed in the police vehicle he kicked the door and caused damage. The 34-year-old, Jesse Youngchief, is charged with resisting arrest, two counts of mischief, as well as disobeying a previous court-ordered condition. Youngchief was released by a Justice of the Peace on a $500 bond for court on June 1st in Bonnyville.

On May 4, the RCMP received a report of a break and enter at Boon Energy. A significant number of miscellaneous tools were stolen. The Mounties are investigating and any information that the public may have concerning these break-ins can be reported to the Bonnyville Detachment or Crime Stoppers.

On May 5, the Bonnyville RCMP, working in conjunction with the Cold Lake RCMP located an impaired driver in the Fort Kent area. The driver, a 43-year-old female from Saddle Lake was processed under provincial Sanctions and released with a $1000 fine, a 30 Day vehicle seizure, and a 90-day immediate licence suspension.

On May 5, the RCMP received a call of a stolen quad overnight. The quad is a 2015 Red Honda TRX and it was stolen from Range Road 453 and Twp 624. The stolen quad has not been found and the theft continues to be investigated.

On May 5, the Mounties received multiple complaints of an erratic driver on Highway 28 headed towards Cold Lake. The RCMP was able to locate the driver of the suspect vehicle who was also wanted on outstanding warrants. He was arrested in Cold Lake through the cooperation of the Lakeland Crime Reduction Unit, Bonnyville GIS, Police Dog Service, Bonnyville RCMP, and the Cold Lake RCMP. The 20-year-old, Jarell Moyah, is charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, assault on a police officer, possession of Methamphetamine, and flight from a police officer. All of the related charges were laid in Cold Lake.
