Two people were arrested and charged with drug and weapons offences after a driving complaint on Hwy 55 west.

According to Cold Lake RCMP, they received a complaint about someone speeding on Hwy 55 and tried to pull the vehicle over. The driver did not stop and the vehicle hit the ditch near Range Road 434.

Police say the occupants fled the scene and so they called Police Dog Services to track the suspects.

Both people surrendered without incident.

28-year old Ricky Whitstone of Kehewin and 36-year old Fabian Gladue of Bonnyville are both charged with flight from police, possession for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of prohibited weapons. Both were released on conditions after a hearing and are scheduled to appear in Cold Lake Provincial Court March 24.
