Extreme Cold Warning issued in the Lakeland: Environment Canada

Environment Canada has issued an extreme cold warning in the Lakeland area with temperatures expected to drop in the minus 40’s with the wind chill.

Extremely cold wind chill values between minus 40 to 45 will develop tonight, Environment Canada said, and these extreme cold conditions will last into next week.

A multi-day episode of very cold wind chills is expected.

Tonight, mainly cloudy skies are expected with a 30 per cent chance of flurries early this evening. It will clear later on with a wind up to 15 km/h. The low is minus 31, with wind chills anticipated of minus 41 overnight. Frostbite in minutes.

• Lac La Biche Co. near Fork Lake
• Lac La Biche Co. near Heart Lake
• Lac La Biche Co. near Lac La Biche and Square Lake
• Lac La Biche Co. near Lakeland Prov. Park and Rec. Area
• Lac La Biche Co. near Plamondon Hylo and Avenir
• M.D. of Bonnyville near Beaverdam
• M.D. of Bonnyville near Bonnyville Ardmore and Kehewin Res.
• M.D. of Bonnyville near Cold Lake and City of Cold Lake

On Friday, the wind will blow north 20 km/h gusting to 40 in the afternoon with a high of minus 23. Wind chill expected of minus 43 in the morning and minus 33 in the afternoon.
