RCMP say individual who trespassed at BCHS was intoxicated

Bonnyville RCMP said no threats or attempts to use a knife were made by the trespasser at Bonnyville Centralized High School on Tuesday.

RCMP attended the scene after BCHS staff escorted the individual out of the school and was seen wandering around with a pocketknife visible.

Members attended quickly and located the female. Police seized the knife and found the female to be very intoxicated, Bonnyville RCMP said.

She was arrested and returned to the detachment.

There were no threats, no attempts to use the knife, nothing other than the female wandering around and asking for a ride, RCMP said.

The accused is a 23-year-old female from Cold Lake who was found to be the subject of current conditions and was charged for failing to abide by those conditions, which was abstaining from intoxicating substances.

The information is not sworn, so RCMP cannot yet release a name.

School staff will be reviewing safety protocols, as well as working with the C2 to determine what steps need to be taken to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future, a letter to parents said afterward.
