RCMP have charged three people after an attempted home invasion earlier this week.

On Monday night at 10:30pm, St. Paul RCMP responded to a firearms complaint on Saddle Lake First Nation.

RCMP members attended the scene where guns had been discharged during a home invasion.

Police said no residents were injured, however, one of the suspects is believed to have received a gunshot wound during the event and was taken to a nearby hospital.

The investigation is still ongoing and several charges have been laid at this time.

“Although this was a serious incident, we do not believe that the general public was at risk as this is believed to be a targeted offence. As always our priority is ensuring public safety in the communities we police,” said Sgt. David Graham of the St. Paul RCMP.

Byron Crane (37) of Saddle Lake First Nation was charged with the following;

• Discharge firearm with intent
• Unauthorized possession of a firearm
• Breaking and entering with intent
• Disguised with intent to commit offence
• Weapons possession contrary to order (x2)

Crane was remanded following a judicial hearing and is scheduled to appear in St Paul Provincial Court on Jan. 14, 2021.

Louise Whiskeyjack (43) of Saddle Lake First Nation was charged with the following;

• Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
• Possession of controlled substance: Crystal meth

Whiskeyjack was released following a judicial hearing and is scheduled to appear in St Paul Provincial Court on Feb. 04, 2021.

Jenny Badger (21) of Saddle Lake First Nation was charged with the following;

• Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
• Possession of controlled substance: Crystal meth
• Fail to comply with release order condition (x3)

Badger was released following a judicial hearing and is scheduled to appear in St Paul Provincial Court on Jan. 14, 2021.
