Outbreak at Vermilion Valley Lodge officially over
Alberta Minister of Health, Tyler Shandro declared the Covid-19 outbreak at Vermilion Valley Lodge over today.
“Of the eight total cases (three residents and five staff), all have made a full recovery,” said recreation director, Brittany Lysons.
For perspective on nearby living quarters, the Vermilion Valley Lodge has 84 rooms for independent living. In a separate wing they also offer supportive living Level 3, and they have a few separate cottages nearby. Family and friends online are excited to hear the news and garner support for the health and well-being of the community’s seniors.
Management of the Vermilion & District Housing Foundation (VDHF) said the past six weeks have been challenging for residents, their families, as well as their staff. They extended thanks to their staff for their dedication to the residents – continuing to put resident safety first, as well as to everyone for their continued support.
“We are thankful we were successful in keeping our numbers as low as they were. Both residents and staff are thrilled to be able to loosen restrictions and resume a few more everyday activities again,” said Lysons.
VDHF guidelines will still be in place for visitors and resident outings. If you have any questions about how to arrange a visit with your family member, you can call 780-853-5706.
