Assault on Christmas leads to charges for Bonnyville man

A Bonnyville man has been charged stemming from an assault outside of town on Christmas Day.

A resident reported to the Bonnyville RCMP just before 1:00pm on December 25 that he was assaulted by a man while visiting a friend’s residence, RCMP said.

The complainant reported being punched and kicked multiple times before the assailant left in a taxi.

Mounties attended the residence and obtained statements which led to the arrest of a male from Bonnyville, whose name has not been released because the information is not yet sworn.

He was released on an undertaking for a March court date in Bonnyville.

RCMP said they were not handing out a fine for breaching public health orders. Their first step, the RCMP said, is education not enforcement.
