Salvation Army & Bargain Shop team up for Xmas Toy Drive
The Bargain Shop in Vermilion has partnered with the Salvation Army creating a Toy Drive to support their Christmas hampers for families in need.
Manager, Cathy Larsen, is very thankful for the community support and has been advocating for the toys to be distributed locally.
“The community is absolutely the hero and success of this toy raffle,” said Larsen.
“When we do the food drive everyone steps up, and now for the toy drive people are stepping up. This community is amazing.”
Additionally, two-dollar entries can also be submitted into a raffle draw worth over $225. The raffle package was donated by The Bargain Shop staff as a thank you to those who have donated.
Fill a Sled Day is Saturday, December 5, and will be the last day for the toy drive and raffle.
In other years, The Bargain Shop had contributed 10 per cent of their toy sales that day back to the community. This year, they have opted to donate 10 per cent of all of their sales that day. To join in the celebration, mascot, Big Red, will be there and carollers will set the festive tone.
“This year has been a big challenge for a lot of people,” said Larsen.
“For those that have never used the hamper service through the Salvation Army or for people that know of families in need, confidential messages can be transferred from here to the Salvation Army if anyone needs the extra help this year.”
