Bonnyville’s virtual open house scheduled tonight

Residents can weigh in on the town’s plans for the upcoming budget on Tuesday night.

The Town of Bonnyville is hosting a virtual budget open house tonight at 6:00pm on Zoom.

Council discussed a six per cent tax increase for 2021 in light of overages on the regional waterline and other costs last week.

With the announcement on Monday that Bonnyville is getting roughly $6.9 from ID349 for the 2020 year and a long-term arrangement reached for the region, it is unclear how that impacts this upcoming budget.

The town must pass an interim budget before Dec. 31, but can make adjustments in the spring after the final assessments come through, which is when they set the mill rate.
