Santa’s Elves to give gift cards this year

Bonnyville Centralized High School has changed its Santa’s Elves program in light of new health restrictions.

While the school will still accept toy donations at the outlets throughout town, the logistics of having a gift wrapping event has been ruled out with new social gathering limits.

Santa’s Elves will instead store these gifts for next year and find age-appropriate gift cards for the kids in need.

“We’re encouraging them to use our online cash donation, but we still will at the sites listed on our website accept gifts or toys for kids. We will be hanging on to those and storing them till next year, when things are hopefully more normal,” said principal Mark Centazzo.

“This year, in lieu of the wrapped gifts that we usually give kids, we’re actually going to try and give gift card sage-appropriate for those in place of those gifts.”

The registration through the Knights of Columbus remains the same for those in need, and forms can be found at the Bonnyville Friendship Centre, said Centazzo.
