M.D. 2021 budget open house goes virtual Wednesday night

M.D. residents will get the opportunity to see what the 2021 budget looks like virtually on Wednesday.

There will be a live presentation of what the M.D. of Bonnyville is proposing financially online after an open house at the Beaver River Fish and Game was cancelled earlier this month due to heightened health measures.

“It’s important for us to ensure that we get the engagement with the residents. And we’re going to try it this way,” said Reeve Greg Sawchuk on The Morning After.

“We’re hoping that people will kind of tune in. I will give a brief overview on the budget process. We’re hoping to have out there the information on the budget display that was available at the open houses, for people to kind of peruse before we actually get into it. I’ll entertain questions coming from wherever.”

Sawchuk said with the current rules on hosting gatherings it was not possible to host a physical event.

The drafts that were shown at previous open houses are available on the M.D.’s website with overviews on the total budget and a breakdown in separate departments.

Included are road and drainage maps, parks and recreation budget, corporate services, Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority amongst others.

Lakeland Connect will be hosting the forum and residents can ask questions to the local leaders via our Facebook stream.

The presentation begins at 7:00pm.
