Mannville’s Crossroads Museum gets a face lift
Following a fall storm, Crossroads Museum in Mannville sustained significant damage and required repairs.
Owned by the village, and managed by the Mannville Historical Society, they were happy to have the work covered by insurance.
“We had a horrible wind and rain storm that caused leaking and the roof needed to be redone,” said Lillian Konieczny, president of the Mannville Historical Society.
“The ongoing project includes the ceiling, walls, and flooring inside.”
Originally the rural building was a one-room school house, and later it was moved into town to become a church.
“We have to appreciate the past, and think of how people lived and what they used long ago,” said Konieczny.
While construction is being done, the museum’s contents are being stored separately. They regularly feature displays of kitchen equipment and children’s tea sets, bedroom furniture and a doll collection, a classroom, church, and glass negatives. Crossroads Museum also has tourist information available for those that visit.
“If it wouldn’t have been looked after, it wouldn’t have been a very nice situation. We would like to thank the village for taking care of things right away. The work looks very good,” said Konieczny.
