An Oct. 16 fire in the 5100 block of 49 Ave in St. Paul was deliberately set according to St. Paul Fire Chief Trevor Kotowich.

St. Paul Fire was called to the scene around 8:30 p.m to extinguish the fire. Kotowich said the subsequent investigation revealed the fire was intentional, but details of how exactly the fire was set will not be released in order to protect the ongoing police investigation.

“The matter has now been referred to the RCMP, so I really can’t say anything more about it,” said Kotowich. He encouraged anyone with information about the fire and who may have set it to contact the St. Paul RCMP at 780-645-8888.
