Vermilion Chamber Awards handed out virtually

Nominees were showcased and each of the winners highlighted during the annual Vermilion & District Chamber of Commerce Awards on Saturday.

Chamber office manager, Leanne Martin, shared local trivia including that the chamber was founded in 1906. This year added opportunity included nominees from surrounding communities.

“I am so proud to be able to say that we have some amazing and outstanding businesses that stand out in our community this past year – even though it has been especially challenging,” said Mayor of Vermilion, Caroline McAuley.

“Congratulations to all of the nominees. Thank you for your contribution to our community.”

Winners of the 2020 Vermilion Chamber Awards were as follows:

Spirit of Vermilion – Lighten Up Therapy & Wellness Centre

Customer Service Award – Mainstreet Hardware

Business Professional of the Year – Brenda Lee, rotarian and co-chair of the Capital Campaign for the Vermilion Valley Lodge Modernization Project

Employer of the Year – Vermilion Credit Union

Business of the Year – Elevation

Chamber Champion – Deborah A. Tovell Professional Corporation

“To survive and thrive through theses difficult times we’ve had in 2020 is a remarkable achievement in itself. Congratulations,” said Tim Dyck, sponsor from the Chamber Group Insurance Plan.

Business professional nominees were held in high esteem for their extra effort in the community overall benefit to their respective businesses. Martin went on to thank sponsors and said without them, the evening just wouldn’t have been possible.

New chamber president, Kory Kralkay, thanked all the businesses who participated and Martin for coordinating the awards.
