COVID recoveries increasing in Lakeland

While the total number of cases are getting larger, recoveries from COVID-19 are also increasing on Saddle Lake Cree Nation.

In the nation’s update on Tuesday night, health authorities confirmed 26 total cases of the virus, with 17 active cases and nine recoveries.

Seventy-four tests were conducted Tuesday with no new infections.

Testing is available from 10:00am-12:00pm each week day by appointment, with drive-in testing available Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 1:00-4:00pm, and Tuesday and Thursday for an additional two hours in the afternoon.

Residents who have been asked to self-isolate are reminded to do so.

There remains three active infections in Whitefish First Nation and one on Kehewin Cree Nation.

A new infection has been reported in Cold Lake, according to the provincial government’s virus data map. This is the seventh case in the city.

There is still two active cases within the M.D. of Bonnyville with 15 recoveries.

Within the “local geographic area” of St. Paul, which includes Saddle Lake, there is 25 active cases and 12 recoveries.

One active case remains in the Smoky Lake area.

Two new deaths and 143 new cases were reported in Alberta on Wednesday.
