Watch out, here come…J.R. Robson Grads

Horns honked in celebration during J.R. Robson School’s Graduation last weekend.

With vehicles surrounding them families and dignitaries gathered in the football field on August 29, for the outdoor socially-distanced ceremony.

“For the most part you’ve been taught to focus on what’s best for you in order to drive you to do your best,” said Lindsey Bates, principal.

“You have also gained patience which is an important trait for enduring challenges.”

MLA, Garth Rowswell was also in attendance and noting their theme, ‘Watch out, here we come,’ he said, “You have every reason to be confident. I wish you an enjoyable, memorable, and safe graduation.”

On behalf of the Town of Vermilion, Councillor Justin Thompson, addressed the graduates and said they were very smart and capable. He encouraged them to practice curiosity, passion, and empathy – putting themselves in the shoes of others.

“Don’t be afraid to ask the tough and important questions. Nothing in life comes easy and we have to have the strength and fortitude to go after them,” said Thompson.

A video message was then shared by Buffalo Trail Public School Superintendent, Rhae-Ann Holoien.

“Take pride in the abilities and skills that you have. This year you have shown resiliency and demonstrated drive. Congratulations and all the best in your future endeavours.”

This year’s valedictorian was Ali L’Heureux.

Overall students were overjoyed to receive their certificates, some of them even doing back flips off the stage to celebrate.
