Jacknife gives back when community needs it most

Jacknife Oilfield Services and Mechanical Repair is giving back to the community in a major way. The company is committed to hosting charity initiatives throughout the year that’ll benefit a variety of local non-profits. General Manager, Kurt Muller, explained its a way “to say thank you to our community and clients at this time of need. “All of this is possible because of the amazing support from our clients, so a huge thank you to them. Jacknife has always been committed to giving back to the community, and 2020 is a time when there is an even greater need.”

“We are identifying areas of need and every two months we are hosting a charity initiative.” Muller explained that in the summer the company raised money and food donations for the Bonnyville Friendship Centre. “Whatever our staff and the public donated we matched,” he explained.

After the success of the food drive, Jacknife decided to host a toy drive for the Dr. Margaret Savage Crisis Centre (DMSCC). And once again the company is matching any items raised!

Located in Cold Lake, the DMSCC provides safe and secure shelter and support to women and children in crisis.Often when fleeing domestic violence women and the children arrive at the Dr. Margaret Savage Crisis Centre with very little personal items. Most times they arrive with just the clothes on their backs.

“It’s been challenging during these times and any extra level of comfort we are able to give the kids we will,” he said.

Muller said it was a staff decision to help the DMSCC, “they do such amazing work.”

The public can drop off toys (new or gently used) or monetary donations at Jacknife or they can stop in at Red Apple and leave a monetary donation.

Along with toys, the public can also donate items of need for the women at the shelter.

Other items on the wish list:

  • Sheets (double and single)
  • Towels
  • Self-Care Items for the women (i.e. face masks, bath bombs etc.)
  • PJs (women, youth, and children)
  • Undergarments (women, youth, and children)
  • Bathrobes
  • Grocery Gift Cards

At the end of September, Jacknife will match any donations and use any monetary donations to purchase toys from Red Apple to give to the DMSCC.

Muller said that Jacknife is proud to play a role in assisting the community, “A cornerstone of our business is providing value to those in need, outside of our business operations. What better place to do that than the local area where we all live and work”.
