Vermilion Chamber grilling up community spirit

Throughout the summer the Vermilion & District Chamber of Commerce has been looking forward to hosting their Celebrating Vermilion Businesses BBQ.

“I haven’t eaten a burger on a sidewalk all summer,” said Leanne Martin, Chamber office manager.

“This event will celebrate their usual fair kick-off, she said they still wanted to be able to promote shopping local, and the barbecue will provide an opportunity for just that.

The barbecue will take place on September 3, at the Vermilion Credit Union parking lot from 5:30 – 7:00pm.

Surprise bags will be up for grabs once again (last year they were sold out within 20 minutes). One-hundred bags are being prepared with gift cards, coupons, and promotional items for a cost of $20 and an estimated value of approximately $100.

A $5 purchase will include a barbecued hamburger and a drink. Martin said the food will all be wrapped in foil and there will be prepackaged condiments.

Upcoming chamber news stretches right into next year.

The chamber’s virtual AGM is taking place online on October 17. Any business can attend, members and non-members alike.

People can still look forward to the chamber’s international trips when borders reopen. They will aim for spring and fall.

In 2021, the chamber will be opening a Chamber Emporium which will include a feature wall in their office full of locally made products by small businesses in the area.

“It will be a way for chamber members who don’t have a storefront to display goods,” said Martin.

She also said that you will be able to check out the products on the new chamber website at vermilionalbertachamber.com.

Overall, residents and business owners are looking forward to supporting the barbecue and keeping an eye on upcoming projects with the chamber.
