Tornado watch in effect for Pierceland area

Environment Canada has issued a tornado watch in the Pierceland area on Saturday.

This watch was put in effect at 11:07am Saturday morning for the areas of:

  • Green Lake
  • R.M. of Beaver River including Pierceland and Goodsoil
  • R.M. of Big River including Big River and Chitek Lake
  • R.M. of Loon Lake including Loon Lake and Makwa
  • R.M. of Meadow Lake including Waterhen Res.

 

Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms which may produce tornadoes.

An upper disturbance tracking into central Saskatchewan will bring a risk of severe thunderstorms to the region later today, Environment Canada said.

The weather agency has also issued a severe thunderstorm watch in the Lakeland area on Saturday.

The watch is in effect for Bonnyville, Cold Lake, St. Paul, Lac La Biche, and Smoky Lake areas.

Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.
