Bonnyville senior dies in OHV accident
Crews searched Sunday for missing man, who was later found with their vehicle rolled over.
An 80-year-old Bonnyville man has died as a result of an off-highway vehicle rollover this weekend.
On Sunday at approximately 4:30 p.m., Bonnyville RCMP responded after the man was overdue from an OHV trip in a number of possible areas in the M.D. of Bonnyville, Cold Lake and Ashmont.
Searches were conducted in local areas and further efforts were made to coordinate additional searches, police said.
However, a couple hours later, RCMP received a call from a member of the public who had located the off-highway vehicle rolled over in the area of Muriel Lake in the M.D. of Bonnyville.
The male was with the OHV and was deceased.
RCMP’s initial information revealed that the OHV is believed to have rolled over on a steep area of trail.
“There is nothing to indicate anything suspicious surrounding this fatal single OHV collision,” Bonnyville RCMP said in a press release on Monday.
Bonnyville RCMP will continue to investigate.
The name of the deceased will not be released and no further updates are anticipated.
