Fire restriction in Lac La Biche, M.D. lifted

On Wednesday, the fire restriction in Lac La Biche County was removed. 

The fire restrictions started at the end of May due to dry weather.

Fire restrictions are put in place to protect nature, wildlife, people, and property.

Open burning, firepits, fireworks, and cooking stoves in parks are prohibited during a fire restriction, and are now allowed.

Residents are still asked to use precaution when starting a campfire, and even though there is no longer a fire restriction, Jihad Moghrabi, Lac La Biche County’s Communications Manager, says there are still rules that need to be followed. 

“Although our fire restriction has been lifted, I’d like to emphasize that residents still need fire permits within our permitting area for any burning other than a campfire,” said Moghrabi.

M.D. of Bonnyville

Agriculture and Forestry has lifted the fire advisory currently in place for the Forest Protection Area within the M.D. of Bonnyville.

Valid fire permits are now required for any burning of wood debris within the Forest Protection Area.
