Feast at the Beach food truck festival cancelled
Cold Lake event at Kinosoo Beach will not go ahead this Labour Day weekend.
On Friday, the Cold Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce officially announced the cancellation of the second annual Feast at the Beach scheduled for September 4-5.
Ryan Lefebvre, Chamber president, said in a press release they were initially hopeful to run the event this year, but eventually had to pull the plug.
“We were hopeful that we would be further down the relaunch path by this time and it was certainly not an easy decision, however, with large gathering restrictions not yet being lifted, the committee didn’t feel comfortable that it would be at the numbers required for such an event,” said Lefebvre.
The first Feast at the Beach ran last Labour Day weekend as thousands descended onto Kinosoo Beach to enjoy live music, children’s entertainers, and several food trucks.
It was meant to provide a local activity on the long weekend as many families like to stick around because of classes returning at school.
Chamber staff were busy contacting entertainers and food vendors over the past few weeks and through those discussions, even if large gathering restrictions were expanded, postponing the event was still the right decision, the Chamber said.
“We are excited about the entertainment and some special surprises we’ve booked, but for now we will have to keep it under wraps as we have been able to carry forward the lineup for next year’s Feast at the Beach scheduled for Labour Day weekend Sept. 3-4, 2021,” said executive sirector, Sherri Buckle.
