The Lakeland Humane Society will be hosting a Father’s Day auction starting at 10:00am, and will wrap up noon on Sunday.

Funds from the profits will go directly towards the animals in the Society’s care.

“Because we’re not for profit and a non-government body, everything from keeping the lights on to feeding the cats comes from donations, and it’s why we fundraise all year round,” said LHS resource and program coordinator Tiffany Postma.

“Animals in this time have been coming in some dire conditions, and while we’ve been having some really good adoption rates, it’s been a bit of a struggle for some of our long-time residents.”

Expenses such as food, medical treatments, and the Society’s utilities are just a few of the things the auction will benefit.

Prize baskets up for bid have been provided by Starbucks and Canadian Tire, among others, and some of them can be viewed at the event’s Facebook page.

Postma has said there is a general theme surrounding dads and animals for the pieces.
