Cold Lake RCMP charge two with 33 offences
“We appreciate tips from the public regarding suspicious activity or vehicles,” says Corporal Marie-Eve Mackenzie-Plante, Cold Lake General Investigative Section. “This one call resulted in 33 charges being laid and removed illicit drugs from our community.”
On April 15, 2020, Cold Lake RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious minivan stuck in the ditch on Township Road 604 near Range Road 422.
The caller advised that the driver appeared to be sleeping. When police arrived to investigate further a male and female were located inside. The male driver woke up and an officer noticed he was holding a firearm in his lap. Both occupants were taken into custody without incident after exiting the vehicle.
Police seized a loaded 20-gauge tactical shotgun, concealed baseball bat, large hunting knife and ammunition. Police also seized what s believed to be crystal meth (22g), cocaine (4.6g), drug paraphernalia and approximately $5985 in Canadian currency.
Luke White (35) of St. Paul, Alta., was charged with 25 offences, some of which include:
· Operation while impaired by alcohol of motor vehicle
· Operation of a motor vehicle without authorization (x2)
· Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x3)
· Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (x3)
· Possession of a weapon contrary to a court order (x10)
He was remanded into custody after a judicial hearing and will be appearing in Cold Lake Provincial Court on June 26, 2020.
Tamara Whiskyjack (27) of Saddle Lake, Alta., was charged with eight offences which include:
· Unauthorized possession of a firearm
· Possession of a firearm in motor vehicle
· Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x3)
· Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (x3)
She was released after a judicial hearing and is set to appear in Cold Lake Provincial Court on June 26, 2020.
