Pontiacs’ Lucas Thorne named to AJHL North Division All-League Team

Bonnyville Pontiacs graduating forward Lucas Thorne can add another accolade to his great 2019-20 season.
He was named to the AJHL’s North Division All-League Team on Friday after being a league finalist for Most Valuable Player.
Thorne nearly doubled his scoring from the 2018-19 season with 81 points in 53 games, potting 30 goals on Bonnyville’s dangerous top line with leading scorer Matt McKim and Daine Dubois.
Thorne recently turned 21-years-old and is committed to play at Holy Cross University in his collegiate hockey career.
The Pontiacs season finished after bowing out in six games to the Drayton Valley Thunder in the AJHL North quarterfinals.
The AJHL season and was postponed before the second round of playoffs began and was cancelled shortly after.
Sherwood Park Crusaders forwards Arjun Atwal and Carter Savoie, defenceman Michael Benning and netminder Carter Gylander fill the other All-League spots in the North Division with former Pontiac Adam Sandstrom earning the second defender position.
In the South Division, forwards Alex Young (Canmore Eagles), Randy Hernandez (Brooks Bandits), and Jack Works (Okotoks Oilers) were nods to the All-League Team.
Defensemen Tim Rego (Brooks Bandits) and Eric Parker (Okotoks Oilers) and goaltender Griffin Bowerman (Camrose Kodiaks) round out the team.
