Elk Point RCMP arrest four after copper wire theft
Elk Point RCMP have arrested four people after executing a search warrant in Frog Lake.
On the morning of Monday, March 9, Elk Point RCMP Detachment received a report of a break and enter with theft at a building on the Frog Lake First Nations Reserve.
Later that day, Elk Point and St. Paul RCMP Detachment members along with the Eastern Alberta District Rural Crime Reduction Unit (EADRCRU) executed a search warrant at a residence in Frog Lake where four suspects were taken into custody.
Police located and recovered most of the property that had been stolen from the earlier break and enter and a large amount of what was believed to be stolen industrial grade copper wire.
The copper wire was believed to be associated with break-ins and thefts that had been occurring in the area over recent weeks.
John Allan Macphail (52) of Edmonton was charged with breaking and entering into a business and possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.
He was released after a judicial hearing and is scheduled to appear in St. Paul Provincial Court on April 16.
John Tyler Macphail (24) of Edmonton was charged with breaking and entering into a business, possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 and failing to comply with a probation order.
He was remanded into custody after a judicial hearing and is scheduled to appear in St. Paul Provincial Court via CCTV on March 26.
A 60-year-old male from Frog Lake was also charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.
The accused was released with conditions and cannot be identified at this time pending a swearing of an Information.
