Spring ahead: Remember to set your clocks ahead this weekend

Spring ahead is this weekend.

Remember to set your clocks ahead one hour when you go to bed on Saturday night.

Daylight savings time officially arrives at 2:00am on Sunday morning.

This could be the last time Albertans adjust their clocks for daylight savings time.

The Government of Alberta said 91 per cent of respondents to their DST survey they would prefer to stay at summer hours year-round, instead of changing the clocks twice a year.

“With a decision about time zones, we must consider what our partners from other jurisdictions are doing and avoid taking actions that would leave Alberta out of sync with our neighbours,” said Service Minister Nate Glubish.

“As part of that process, we are continuing to have conversations with key organizations and members of the business community.

“We know more and more governments are contemplating this move to permanent summer hours, including British Columbia, which has passed legislation to enable the province to move to one permanent time, and Yukon, who will be changing their clocks for the last time this Sunday.”

Over 140,000 Albertans participated in the survey.
