Lakeland Panthers repeat as Edmonton Invitiation Bantam Hockey Tournament champs
The Lakeland Panthers repeated as one of the best in Alberta bantam hockey over the Christmas holidays.
The Panthers won their second straight Edmonton Invitation Bantam Hockey Tournament with a 6-1 victory over the Olds Grizzlys after scoring five unanswered goals in the first period.
The team remains undefeated (22-0) in league play.
The tournament began on Dec. 27 with a 3-2 win over the Calgary Canucks and a 9-1 route of the Parkland Athletic Club White the following day.
After beating the South Side Athletic Club Pro Hockey Life 6-1, the Panthers punched their ticket to the semi-final.
The Panthers met the Maple Leaf Athletic Club Alumni and crushed them 7-3 setting up the final against the Grizzlys, the south’s top ranked team.
The Lakeland Panthers play the Peace River Sabres on Saturday in Bonnyville at 4:15pm.
