Lac La Biche RCMP respond to erratic driver and shots fired
On Nov. 18, 2019 at approximately 3:30 p.m., Lac La Biche RCMP responded to an erratic driving call through the town site.
Police located the suspect vehicle and a traffic stop was initiated. Two occupants inside the vehicle fled on foot and were arrested after a short foot pursuit. A loaded rifle was seized from the vehicle.
While responding to the erratic driving call, a separate call was received regarding a vehicle being followed by another vehicle and alleged shots being fired at it. Police were able to determine the suspect vehicle was involved with the shots fired call. No one was injured.
Lac La Biche RCMP have charged three suspects in relation to these incidents.
Craig Phillip Cardinal (34) of Heart Lake was charged with:
- Dangerous driving
- Careless use/storage of a firearm
- Discharge firearm with intent (x2)
He was released after a judicial hearing and will be appearing in Lac La Biche Provincial Court on Dec. 2, 2019.
Lorne Eugene Cardinal (23) of Lac La Biche was charged with:
- Obstruct peace officer
- Careless use/storage of a firearm
- Possess weapon dangerous to the public
- Possess firearm while prohibited (x2)
- Discharge firearm with intent (x2)
- Breach of probation (x2)
He was remanded into custody after a judicial hearing and will be appearing in Lac La Biche Provincial Court on Dec. 2, 2019.
Joshua Edgar Ladouceur (30) of Heart Lake was charged with:
- Obstruct peace officer
- Breach of Recognizance (x2)
He was remanded into custody and will be appearing in St. Paul Provincial Court on Nov. 21, 2019.
As this matter is now before the courts, no further information will be provided from the police.
