RCMP apprehend impaired driver in Cold Lake after fleeing collision
Cold Lake police apprehended an impaired driver after a collision in the city on Friday night.
On October 25 at approximately 11:00 p.m., Cold Lake RCMP received a call for a rear-end traffic collision in Cold Lake.
While on route, the officers received additional information that the driver of the suspect vehicle smelled strongly of alcohol, and had since left the scene of the accident.
The witness was able to provide officers with information as to where the suspect came to a stop and entered a home.
Officers attended the home and were able to apprehend the driver for impaired driving well over the legal limit and for failing to remain at the scene of an accident.
Police did not release the suspect’s name or the changes from the incident.
RCMP would like to remind drivers that with the holiday season approaching to plan ahead.
“If you are planning on drinking – do not drive,” the press release said.
“By finding an alternative way home such as transit, cabs or a designated driver, you can help ensure that you and the people sharing the roads will get to their destination safely.”
