Golf tournament for Valour Place raises $11,000

A charity golf tournament last month raised $11,000 for a place that supports military members.

The first ever Cold Lake Valour Place golf tournament on Sept. 9 doubled their goal of $5000 by exceeding $11,000 in funds raised for Valour Place.

Valour Place is a temporary home at no cost for all Canadian Forces members families of the fallen, and veterans and first responders and their families who require medical treatment in Edmonton, but live outside of the area.

At any given time it is estimated that 75 per cent of their clients come from the Lakeland region.

Their usage is increasing each year and in 2018 there were 3279 nights stayed.

The Valour Place golf committee thanks everyone who participated.
