The man that caused the warning from RCMP to lockdown Glendon School yesterday afternoon is facing charges.

The accused was said to be brandishing a knife a block and a half away from the school when the RCMP requested the School go into a lockdown at 12:00pm yesterday afternoon.

After briefly being in lockdown, the school was placed under a hold-and-secure until 2:00pm when police notified the school they could end the safety precautions.

Derek Drake from Cold Lake is facing charges of adult operation while prohibited, adult failure to comply with a condition of an undertaking, and adult resist or obstruct a police officer.

Those charges are not yet sworn, but Drake’s name was released by Bonnyville RCMP because he was previously wanted for outstanding warrants in Cold Lake and Bonnyville.

Police Dog Services attended the scene to apprehend the accused in the bushes.

The incident had nothing to do directly with the school, said Sgt. Kim Hillier yesterday.
