St. Paul RCMP interrupt break and enter in progress at Saddle Lake school

In the early morning hours of July 10, 2019 St. Paul RCMP were making patrols in the Saddle lake townsite and located a male attempting to break into Onchaminahos School.  The male was arrested and charged with several criminal offences.

While making patrols in the Saddle lake town site RCMP members observed a suspicious male attempting to gain entry to the school.  After gaining entry to one of the portable classrooms the male fled on foot.  After a short foot chase the male was arrested without further incident.  Nothing has been reported missing from the classroom.

During a search of the area where the male was arrested, RCMP located keys to the school which had been reported stolen on July 2nd, 2019 as well as an imitation sword and a bandana the accused wore to cover his face.

Adrian Cardinal (35) of Saddle Lake was arrested and charged with the following offences;

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Breaking and entering with intent to commit theft
  • Disguise with intent to commit an offence
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Resisting arrest

Cardinal was taken before a Justice of the Peace and released on a $2000 no cash recognizance to appear in St Paul Provincial Court on Thursday July 25, 2019.
