Bonnyville man faces charge for scamming resident through Facebook

A 36-year-old male from Bonnyville is facing a charge of false pretenses under 00 after scamming a resident through Facebook.

On July 5, Bonnyville RCMP received a report from the victim that they believed they were scammed.

The scammer communicated with the victim through Facebook and got them to send money through cheques and e-transfers.

The victim’s bank notified them that this activity was likely a scam.

The RCMP did not release a court date.
