Bonnyville soccer players are returning home with Provincial medals.

The U15 boys wear a bronze medal around their necks from Provincials earning third place and the U17 boys tasted defeat in the Provincial final to take silver.

The U15 team fired seven goals past the Camrose Vikings goalkeeper to win the final game 7-4.

Camrose was the culprit for the U17s in the championship game, who shut the door on Bonnyville 2-0.

The sting of a Provincial final loss came especially hard for the U13 boys. They were tied 3-3 with Edson in the championship game when a weather delay forced the end of the game after 29 minutes played.

Alberta Soccer resorted to a coin flip to decide the winner, which Edson won.

The officials strongly reminded the boys that they didn’t lose the game only a coin toss and they should consider themselves champions as well, said Curtis Conrad media contact for Bonnyville Soccer Association.

The U19 girls were in contention for a medal, but lost in the bronze medal game 3-0 to the Rocky Knights.
