Rita Belle has never won a contest like this before.
She enters contents when she can, but when she heard two weeks she had won a fishing boat worth $30,000, she said she was shocked.
“Terry [Brosseau] called me and he said, ‘Are you going to take me fishing?’ I had forgotten I had entered the contest and I said ‘Did I forget my wallet at the store?’,” Belle said laughing.
“I was shocked.”
Belle entered the contest through the AG Foods flyer at Brosseau’s Department Store in Bonnyville.
She said she always enters the contests at Brosseau’s but has never won a contest this big before.
Time will tell what happens with her new boat, but she said she is inclined to sell it.
“I’m pretty excited about this prize for sure. But I’m not sure what the plans are for it. We have a lake lot so that could happen.”
Ag Food’s Floating into Summer contest runs in over 50 indepedent stores across Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan with a prize given away in each province.
So the odds are slightly better than the lottery, joked Terry Brosseau, store owner.
The Lowe 162 WT fishing cruiser is a mid entry-level boat with the ability to upgrade.
In the past, Brosseau’s has been a lucky place for contest winners.
Terry Brosseau said they’ve had a couple vehicle winners over the years thanks to AG Foods yearly promotions.
